Let us begin by saying these are not real TNT; they are fake and are intended for display purposes only. They are not made 100% as originals were. If we were to do that, they would cost anywhere from $75-$100 each! Being reenactors ourselves, we would never pay that much for a display item and don’t think you should have to either. That being said, our TNT Blocks look VERY close to the real thing and the label and size of the block are nearly exact to the specs of the Engineers in WWII. For an extra element of authenticity, you can even place one of our blast caps in the end for the totally authentic look!

If you were an Engineer in WWII, you would need something with which to detonate your TNT blocks. Enter the electric blast cap: a length of wire with a copper blast cap at one end. The blast cap was placed in the hole in the TNT block, and the wire was used to detonate the TNT. Our electric blast caps are made with correct copper ends that can be placed in the hole of our reproduction TNT blocks. The wire shown at left is orange and white, but several different color combinations were used in WWII so you will receive the color combination of our choice.

Engineers in WWII used friction tape for all sorts of things like taping wire, taping TNT blocks together, taping TNT blocks onto other objects, and taping blast caps to TNT blocks so they wouldn't come out. Signal Corps members also used friction tape. Our authentic-looking box contains a roll of black electrical tape, which can be used the same way as friction tape was used. For those of you who might have rolls of friction tape, we also offer just the friction tape box without the electrical tape inside.
